Awaken your senses and experience life in the mangroves on this
autism family field trip adventure!
Autism Education and Development Solutions along with Ola’pi Creative is excited to bring you an Autism Family Field Trip: Muckin’ in the Mangroves. Awaken your senses and experience life in the mangroves as you spend your morning exploring Whiskey Creek learning about the plants and animals in this coastal ecosystem.
Join Marine Conservationist, Paola Espitia, M.S. of Ola’pi Creative for the opportunity to identify water birds, listen for mud crabs, taste local flavors, feel pelican feathers, and more! A beach cleanup and group “wave” photo will wrap up the morning and leave your family feeling accomplished and ready to care for the big blue.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME! All ages are encouraged to join in the fun:)
At 9:00am sharp our mangrove adventure will begin at the north end of Dania Beach with a short safety briefing and introduction by our Marine Biologist guide. We will then wade into the shallow water of Whiskey Creek to explore the plants and animals within this coastal ecosystem (you will get wet). There will be opportunities to identify water birds, listen for mud crabs, taste local flavors, feel pelican feathers, and more! To leave the beach better than we found it, we will pick up plastic and trash in the area then regroup for final reflection and a group “wave” photo!
